FOR SESSIONS:
Where do we shoot?
We can shoot wherever you would like! You could choose a place that might be meaningful to you as a couple or a family. For engagements, we could shoot where you two had your first date, where you like to take your dog on walks, incorporate an activity you like doing together like biking or canoeing or something, etc.! For families we can shoot a cozy lifestyle session in your home (what I always recommend for newborns!) or also incorporate an activity your family enjoys, like cutting down Christmas trees for your holiday cards or going camping.
Or I can always help you find locations if there’s a style you were looking for in particular. Perhaps you want an urban session in downtown Indy, but aren’t sure of specific locations. Maybe you want a rural session and need to find a random field. Or you would like water or woods as your photos’ backgrounds. I can help brainstorm on any specifications you want! I’m definitely most familiar with Indianapolis and its surrounding areas, but if I’m coming to you in a different town, I can still help Google some options;)
Great, but what happens if it’s raining or cold?
If we already have an outdoor session planned and it rains, we can either reschedule (without any extra charges, of course!) for a different day, look into indoor options, or I’m always down for a session under umbrellas in the storm! If it is a session scheduled in the winter, we will reschedule for coldness only if it is under 20 degrees.
Here are a few indoor ideas around the Indianapolis area:
Locally Grown Gardens is an adorable little market off the Monon in Broadripple
Neidhammer is an awesome option downtown Indy that is very industrial (they charge $60 to shoot there)
We could go to a cute brewery (Indiana City comes to mind with interior brick and lights) or if beer is not your thing, a cute coffee shop
The Alexander Hotel is more urban chic with colorful art
Libraries– the downtown one is beautiful (but they charge $50 to shoot there)
Cute doughnut or cupcake shops
What do I need to bring to the session?
Payment is due the day of the session, but other than that– nothing! You can always bring your pets (depending on the location we choose obviously) any props you really want to use, or I always love when people bring quilts or cute blankets.
What do I wear?
Please refer to this guide I created that might help!
FOR WEDDINGS:
Do I need a second shooter?
Second shooters are definitely not necessary, but of course can be a nice option to have for certain weddings. My brides and grooms only hire them about at about 25-30% of the weddings I shoot, so I always feel totally comfortable shooting alone and that I get all the important shots of the day that I need no problem by myself.
But here are a few reasons a second shooter is a nice option:
1. You get multiple angles of the events that cannot be replicated, like the ceremony or first look.
2. You can have people in multiple locations at the same time, like guys/girls getting ready in different locations or if things run late they are able to shoot portraits of, say, the groomsmen while I shoot the bridesmaids.
Do you travel?
Absolutely!I will go anywhere in the world for your wedding. However, there may be a travel fee included, depending on the location. Anywhere within 200 miles roundtrip to Indianapolis is included in the cost, but once you start venturing outside that radius, there may be some additional fees we can discuss. My destination weddings and elopements are less expensive than my typical wedding cost to help leave some wiggle room in your budget for travel costs!
