John & Katelin [Seattle & Bainbridge Island, WA]

Yay! I’m finally sharing the wedding I shot in Washington! I was actually the second shooter for Valerie Keinsley of Vallarina, and it was a completely amazing weekend. Katelin is a friend of ours who we spent a lot of time with in the photo/graphics department at Ball State. She moved to Seattle a couple years ago and invited us to shoot their wedding on Bainbridge Island, where John’s parents live, just a ferry ride outside of Seattle. We came for the extended Fourth of July weekend, and even got to join Katelin at her hiking bachelorette party. Of course there was no shortage of images from this hike. Between Val and me (well, mostly Val), Katelin had to have had one of the most well-documented wedding weekends:)

……

…….

A few days later, after exploring Seattle, taking the ferry to Bainbridge and enjoying the rehearsal dinner at John’s parents, it was John & Katelin’s wedding day.

Tessa, one of Katelin’s bridesmaids, is an incredible artist. She created a book filled with watercolor paintings of some of the places in Seattle Katelin & John have visited together. She then filled the pages with envelopes and letters from all the bridesmaids and other friends & family. It was an amazing gift.

P.S. I just have to say that Katelin and John are both part of incredible families– the kind that when you’re around them for 30 seconds, make you want to be a kinder and more compassionate person. Katelin, John, and both their families were more than accommodating and welcoming to us the whole weekend, making sure we were constantly taken care of. (That’s Katelin’s mom at the table.)

Their first look was at 7:30am (yes, you read that right!) in the Grand Forrest (doesn’t that just sound magical?)– just in time for that amazing morning light. It required quite an early wake-up time, but TOTALLY WORTH IT.

Katelin was seriously the most relaxed, easygoing bride I have ever worked with. Hands down. Not to mention SO BEAUTIFUL. A couple things did not go according to plan that day, but you would hardly be able to tell by how Katelin handled it. One thing being that a crucial vendor was over an hour late in the morning because she missed her alarm, and Katelin just felt bad for the vendor because she knew that she was going to feel awful for being late when she woke up. She was not concerned at all for herself– this is how selfless this whole family truly is. She even told Val and I we only need to snap a couple shots throughout the ceremony– and the whole day really– and if we missed big moments, it was no big deal ha. [Don’t worry, we still got all the crucial moments;)] Like I said, this weekend was just amazing.

The ceremony overlooked Puget Sound- it was dreamy.

Brunch! Doughnuts, mimosas, omelet station… now that’s my kind of wedding.

Katelin took all the images that appear on the plates- mainly of her and John’s travels together.

Katelin is one of four girls. Oh, and they are QUADRUPLETS. This is a fact I didn’t learn about her until knowing her almost a year. Here are her three sisters:)

Val rocks.

……

Because it was a brunch wedding, the couple left around 2 or 3, so a few of the guests headed to the dock to hang out at Puget Sound for a couple hours before taking the ferry back to Seattle for the evening:)
