Intimate at-home Indianapolis wedding: Jess & Jax

Jess & Jax’s wedding ended up looking very different than they originally planned, but it was still so completely special and beautiful. As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, they postponed their reception, but had an intimate ceremony (I’m talking so intimate I, as the photographer, wasn’t invited until after the vows were exchanged 😜) in a room lit with dozens of candles at their newly shared home.

Even though they didn’t have an audience during their vows, so many friends played a part to make the day special. In the morning, a bridesmaid dropped off breakfast for the two of them, while another friend brought makings for mimosas. Their cake maker still brought the top of their cake for them to cut, a friend put together her bouquet with flowers from Trader Joe’s and ordered a fancy meal to be delivered to their home for dinner. They also decided to have their ceremony right at 3:27 on 3/27, just because they could. Then— and this was my favorite part— they sent their Spotify reception playlist to all their guests so they could send in videos of themselves dancing to virtually celebrate with them. Happy I could be there for a piece of this sweet friend’s day and that they made the best out of this crazy time.
